PR BI-22 Urkaregi Trail
This is an old service route which formerly linked the hamlets of the San Andrés de Extebarria municipality and joined the hamlets of the Larruskain area with neighbouring Markina-Xemein and Elgoibar.
PR-BI 23 Max or Kalamua Trail
This is an old trail which joins the Markina-Xemein villa with the meadows on the side of Maaxa o Kalamua mount.
PR-BI 24 Trail to Iturreta and Trabakua
Walking trail from Markina-Xemein to the locality of Iturreta and the hamlet of Zuluaga along an old route.
PR-BI 25 Trail to Munitibar Arbaitzegi Gerrikaiz
This trail joins the Lea and Artibai valleys, which give their name to the district.
PR- BI 26 Trail to Aulestia
This route joins Markina-Xemein with Aulestia, crossing old pathways.
PR-BI 27 Trail to Urregarai and Santa Eufemia
This is the route to Santa Eufemia and to Urregarai, which the pilgrims take annually on Saint Eufemia Day (16th September). It is a well known and loved route by locals.
PR-BI 28 Bolibar to Kortaguren Hamlet Route
Departing from Bolibar Square, this is the ideal route to learn about ancient features and traditions of the area (such as raised granaries, permafrost snowfields, dolmens...).

Ubilla Urberuaga – Red
This trail leads to Ubilla-Urberuaga, which is best known for its thermal baths built in the 19th Century.
Arkillogana – Blue
This route brings us to one of the smaller valleys which make up the landscape of Markina-Xemein
Kanteramotxa – Green
This is an easy route, ideal for Nordic Walking beginners.
Urko (Bidegorri) Trail
This round trip route begins at the entrance to the Munibe Palace, on the road which joins Markina-Xemein with Etxebarria. Parts of the walk cross the historic “Camino Real” or royal path which joins these localities.
Markina-Xemein Circular Trail
Walk which circles the municipality. A great way to get to know Markina-Xemein whilst exercising.
Walk to Akarregi
Ziortza-Bolibar – Ondarroa
This walk follows the old merchant drover route leading to the Vizcaya coast. Here they once exchanged fish for wheat, salt, vinegar or wine from Rioja, a luxury item in those times; these trades lend their name the the route. Today this is a tourist and cultural route which ends at one of two points in our region, in this case the municipality of Ondarroa.
